What happened?

As you know, I'm the keeper of F.C. Sant Pere Pescador, and we're finishing the league. This year, the champions are AE Roses, and the other places aren't establish yet, because there is a lot of competence. Yesterday, we played against Llançà, and we won 5-1, but if we would like the second place, Base Roses had to lose.
Well, Base Roses played against the champions (this match is like Barça-Espanyol, because they are in the same city) and we were sure that AE Roses would win, because in the last match which they met, AE won Base for 4-2, and AE Roses is a very good team, it's amazing. What happened? How I said, AE Roses had been the champions, so they needn't be worried about result, but this match is a "derby"...

When we finished the match, our coach said to us that Base Roses had won the match for 6-2, and it was very strange for us, and we were very sad for it, because it was an opportunity to be runner-up! I'm disapoint with it, because in my point of view, this result isn't normally. It could be rig?
Now, they have to play the last match of this competition against L'Escala, who is bottom in this league, and we will cross our fingers because we would like to be the bests, except the first ;)

Barraques'10

Like every year, it’s the time to celebrate the famous Barraques in Figueres.
If we compare the last year with this year, we can see that there are some differences: Barraques’09 were only four days, so there was only a weekend to enjoy them; but this year is better than the last because Barraques’10 last six days and they’re divided in two weekends. Another difference is that this year there are better groups than last year because there is more variety of music, what it means that they’re for all the people. Some examples of the groups that play in Barraques are: “Los delinquentes”, Strombers, Di-versiones,...

Today is the last day to enjoy them and I’m sure I’ll remember them, because last weekend was amazing and today will be better than last weekend and also than yesterday.
Apart from that, I must say that I have had such a great time because of my friends, who are the best!
Now that I’ve the opportunity, I want to say to my friend David an enourmous CONGRATULATIONS, because today it’s his birthday and now he’s 18 years old.

See all of you tonight =)

Bullfighting, a Spanish tradition

Bullfighting is an ancient Spanish tradition and people enjoy going to see the "show". Some people, however, don't think the same.
In my opinion, bullfighting is very dangerous because people can get hurt or even die practising this activity. Moreover, there is a lot of violence and aggresion during the bullfight.
On the other hand, I think that killing animals or making them suffer isn't an intelligent and nice thing to do. I can't understand how people enjoy watching animals dying in front of them. Furthermore, I disagree with the idea that bullfighting is a Spanish tradition which can't be lost. I think that we have a lot of nicer traditions in our country and we can really be proud of them. Finally, I believe that this tradition is able to make that people will be more aggresive, and it will be very dangerous!

As a conclusion, although some people supports this tradition I think that it should be vanished and we should protect these animals of being killed in the middle of the bull ring, but it seems to me that it will never die...
Certanly, could you imagine that a person was killed by a bull every day? NO! So, STOP IT, PLEASE!

Gazpacho

Hi guys!

Today I'm going to explain one of my favourite Summer soup, which is the famous "Gazpacho Andaluz". I choose this recipe because my family comes from Andalusia, and it's one reason that I love it. Gazpacho is a Spanish cold tomato soup which is the perfect starter to a Summer meal, and it's perfect for hot days. It's easy to make and although ingredients may vary according to region, but I'm going to explain the basic recipe. All we need is it: one kilo tomatoes, onion, green pepper, cucumber, a small cup of olive oil, vinager and 200 grams of bread from the day before, soaked in water.

First of all, we have to put the tomatoes, onion, pepper, cucumber, vinager, oil and bread into a liquidizer (if you want to dilute it, add a glass of water). Then, we have to put the mixture into a bowl, add salt and pepper and leave the gazpacho to chill for at least an hour. Finally, we have to serve it in soup bowls, with the portions of diced tomatoes, pepper, cucumber, onion, croutons,... on the table, so that everyone can add them to their bowl as they prefer.
Certanly, if you want to eat it straight away, you can put some ice cubes in to cool it down. Gazpacho, how I said, is a Summer dish which is meant to hydrate and cool down your body, so the colder the better!

Well, I hope you enjoy this recipe and you will be able to do it in a future :)
See you soon *

Las Dunas

There are 144 campgrounds in the area of Girona and 40 % of them are first class, and one of them is "Las Dunas", which I'm going to work this summer, like the last two years. I work in the supermarket, and I like it because workmates are very friendly, and I enjoy a lot with all of them. On the other hand, in this site we have to work really hard and the timetable isn't very good, because we start at 08:00 and finish at 20:00, and we have free time at one'oclok to four o'clock, so we can enjoy a lot the summer...
In my opinion, one of the best things to work in a camping is that you can learn lenguages, because you have to speak the foreigner's language if you would like understand and complain him.

In this modern and well-stocked supermarket we can find: fresh fruit and vegetables, meat products, cheese, frozen food, as well as a great selection of wines and champagne, toiletries and kitchen items. Into this supermarket we can see a bakery, where there are crunchy bread, rolls, croissants and a great variety of cakes are made every day.

Now, in the next video, you can see a little adverstise of this campground, and if you would like to visit it, you will find a few kilometres after the village of St. Martí d'Empúries, next to discotheque called "Hot Fata".

London'10!

Nowadays, we have a bee in our's bonnet about this trip, because we spend all the time speaking with friends about it. Why are we doing it? Because this has been one of the best trip of our lives!

First of all, when we were going on bus to Girona, we got butterflies in our's stomach, and then, when we arrived at London's airport, we were very happy and really exhausted; for this reason, we would went to the hotel, called "London Royal National Hotel". The next day, we began the tour and we went to visit the British Museum, the Covent Garden, National Gallery, etc. This day was amazing, because we had the first contact with the city, and we found some strange things which we don't have in our country. Another day, we went to visit the Globe theatre, the famous Big Ben, th Hyde Park, the Buckingham Palace,...

Well, you can see that we visited a lot of things, and it is an essencial part, like a little "work" that we had to do; but the best of all was our free time, because we could taste some hot dogs from difference sites, for example.
Apart from that, this travel has served to improve our pronunciation; for this reason, I think that it has been a useful and good travel for us; we could tell it to our grandsons! :)

Titus!

My opinion about this film is positive, because I think it i s very different to others, because it mix some elements to nowadays with elements to ancient Rome, and for me, it is what makes different.

About the characters I think they do very good own papers, especially Demetrius and Chiron, because they represent the folly youthful, because they love parties, girls, and they are very proud. On the other hand, the character that I don't like so much is the little boy, Julius because he don't do anything in the film, he only see around him.

A moment that I think it is the most shocking is when Marcus saw Lavinia's arm, because she had got branches instead of hands, and she was spitting blood when she spoke, because the two boys had cut her tongue. Another is when Titus killed his son to meet the emperor.

One feature that has been applied by Julie Taymor, excepting the feeling that produce some scenes because they look like a publicity of the TV, is the language, because it is based on Shakespeare, which it's simple but very beautiful.

In conclusion, I think that if you would like understand this film, you should read the Filomela and Progne's myth, which was written by Ovidio.

Carnival' 1o!

Carnival is a celebration that is celebrated all around the world. Here, in Catalonia, people dress up and organise parties, specially on the weekend. It takes places the firsts weeks of February and is celebrated in different towns and villages of Catalonia.

This year, my friends and I have made a float and we have participated in cercaviles of different villages: Sant Pere Pescador, Empuriabrava and Castelló d'Empúries. We were dressed up like soldiers, with a green helmet, a black t-shirt, some trousers like the ones that wear soldiers and we also painted a green and a black stripe on our face. We spent some weeks making the float, but the result was fantastic and we had a great carnival.
In the different villages we met other people and friends who were also dressed up. This year the fancy dress that has succeed is the one of gangsters (for the boys) and the one of cabaret (for the girls), there were a lot of people who dressed up like that.

The carnivals first started with the cercavila (a lot of people visited our float!) and then, normally in the “public building”of the village, it took place the rest of the party: all the people met there and there was a group of music that played there. For example, in Castelló d'Empúries played Pinocchio and Di-versiones, whereas in the other villages played some other bands. When these groups ended in some villages there was a DJ, but it was late and most of the people went back home.

Carnival is one of the best and funniest celebrations of all the year! And I can say that this year has been spectacular, and very beautiful. I’m impaciently for the next carnival!

"The joke club"

"El club del Chiste" or the joke club, is a new TV programe that is produced by Globomedia and it's presented by Anabel Alonso, who is very famous in this country. She is accompanied by the model Martina Klein, Leo Harlem, David Love, who is knowing for his participation in program's TVG, a Andalusian monologist called Diego Arjona and Meritxell Huerta, a catalan humorist.

While the programe, they are alternating on the stage of Antena 3 to hook up the viewer with a "marathon" of infallible jokes to all time and other a little current. It isn't a competition between the players, because the only goal of the program is to cause the greatest number of laughs per minute. In addition, CdC has got images of the backstage, where amaze by his innovative staging and his modern aesthetic which recall the famous new yorker's comedy clubs.

Every night, I hope that this program starts because I love some jokes, and then I like to explain some of it to my friends the next day, in class, because it's one way to don't hate the study. :) Now, I put here one video about this great programme which we can see everyday at 22:oo h. in Antena 3:

Cheese for all.

Some people can compete with a good cheese accompanied by a glass or red wine; and the habitants of Ribes de Freser ( Ripollès) know this only too well. Every year, the village hosts the "Fira Formatgera", the perfect occasion to buy some of the best types of cheese made in the Pyrenees. For example, the last year the fair had held on April 17.

I think this fair is a good idea to people who loves cheese, like me, because for us every cheese is different to another, and we have the option to buy the best types of Catalonia's cheese for an economic price. In my opinion, I would do more publicity about it, because it doesn't do in everywhere, for this reason it is a good iniciative that this news was published here, because strangers can recive information about it, and they would know that the catalan cheese is one of the best in the world.

Vocabulary:

fair = fira

be held = portar-se a terme

The "Caganer" to BBC

Probably, only catalan people know the mean of this word: "Caganer", but what happens if we explain to another people the mean of this word?:

In this video we can see Stephen Fry is explaining in BBC some customs of Catalonia, and the most spectacular is the faces of the players.

We know that "caganer" isn't the only character typical of the Catalan Christmas that defecate. There is another tradition, a tree trunk that children choose and that led to dining room. It is covered by a blanket because it hasn't got cold and the guys must to feed until Christmas Day, when children have to sing typical's Catalonia songs, and they must to give blows with a stick because "cagatió" give presents to children.

I think that it is one common tradition here, but in the other countries it is a very strange custom, but it isn't the most strange, because in other sites in the world we can see traditions more strange that it; for example in Jamaica, the people bury dead people into the garden of this house and it becomes to a party to say goodbye, and it's prohibited to mourn.

La Pegatina

La Pegatina is a Catalan rumba group from Montcada i Reixac who was born in 2003 when Ruben (who plays alone) will be added to Ovid and Adrian to begin a new project called "Pegatina Sound System."

When it was created they began to crossing Spain and playing at festivals and concerts. In 2006, they changed the name of the group, and they, nowadays, are called "La pegatina" (the sticker). After recording several songs for the compilation, they recorded their first album called "Al carrer!". With this CD and an intensive work, the group increased with four members and then they did a lot of concerts around the world. In Febraury 2009, they have showed a new CD called "Via Mandarina", and for this reason they don't stop, because they are singing for this country, and later they will go outside.

The most important of this group are the members, who are: Rubén Sierra and Adrià Salas, the singers and guitarist, Ovidi Díaz, that plays the called "cajon flamenco", Ferran Ibañez who plays the bass guitar, Axel Magnani, who is the trumpeter, Romain Renard that plays the accordion, and finally, Sergi who is the drummer.

For me, my favourites song are: "El gat rumbero", "Mandarinas y Pomelos", "¿Cómo explicarte?",... for this reason, now I put here a video-song of this great group:

Valentino Rossi

Valentino Rossi was born in Urbino (Italy), and he began his career competing with Karts. Then, in 1996 he started on the World of Motorcycling into the 125cc category and he won his first championship. After winning one year and other in the categories of 125cc and 250cc, V. Rossi passed to 500cc with an Honda (Team Repsol) which he had obtained 3 World’s titles consecutives. In the year 2004, Rossi did the major challenge of his career and of his live, that it was being champion of the world and the following year, with Yamaha, Rossi won it to. Other think that characterizes Rossi, are their celebrations, because he does very surrealist things, for example he took an inflatable doll in the motorcycle up, rised to the podium with a chicken, etc.

He has won 9 world championships, and the last has been one month ago in Malaysia.

Valentino has some nicknames, for example we can see the nexts: Valentinick, Doctor Rossi, Tavullia's Goblin,... and he is for many people the best pilot of all the times, because for us, he isn't normal!

Arctic Monkeys

This group was formed in 2001 in Sheffield (England), but they started to play officialy in 2002; the members of "Arctic Monkeys" are: Alex Turner who is the singer and the guitar, Jamie Cook that he is the guitarist, Nick O'Malley who plays the bass guitar and finally we can see Matt Helders, the drummer. Since 2002, the group use to be in the top ten of the list, because they produce a really good music and do a lot of concerts because they would like be more famous thant actually. This year, they have gone to differents sites, and the've done 65 concerts around the world; if we would like to see them, we have to wait until the 6 of Febraury, in Barcelona. The style of this band is tha alternative rock and it is influenced by the post-punk revival, acid rock and Indie rock.
Arctic Monkeys have extracted 3 albums, that they are: "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" (2006), "Favourite Worst Nightmare" (2007) and "Hambug", which it's published this year.
For me, some of the best songs are: "Fluorescent Adolescent", "Brianstorm", "The bad thing",... all of its are into the second album, which in my opinion it's better than the first and the third.

Now, I put a video about this group, that are playing "Fluorescent Adolescent":

Barcelona bars hire security guards

The new says that some bars and restaurants located in Barcelona have begun to hire private security guards to stop that their clients being robbed, especially in summer, when teenagers steal bags or cameras in the cafes, for example.

In my opinion, I think that it's a good idea for the bar's clients, because they feel more safe, and they can stay in these sites better than time ago. I know that it's a little bit expansive, but I'm sure that it's more account than lost clients; for this reason, I hope that all the bars to Girona follow this method, because every time there are more robatories.

Hire = Contractar

Slumdog Millionaire

“The millionaires should be slumdogs”

Slumdog Millionaire is a story of one teenager called Jamal Malik, who is poor and lives in the slums of Mumbai, and he has been arrested for police because they didn’t belive that the boy, who presented in a programe of TV, knows every answer to the questions that the presenter was doing. For this reason, the boy explain his live them because he had seen all of the answers throughout it, and for it he said:"In life is the answer"

In this film, I love the setting of the story, because I think that it's very right with the plot, and it reflects the condition of the main character and her family and friend.
Other thing that liked to me was the music end, because when I listened it, I recognized it immediately, of course that the other themes are wonderful, because the film has an espectacular soundtrack.
But I don't like the effects of "Slumdog Millionaire" because they are poor for my pleasure, and the character called Latika, who I think she lacks expression, and it don't convince to me.

For me, this film has been one of the best film that I've seen, because it isn't the typical film and for this reason I say that all of you should be to see this film, it's brilliant, you will see it ;)

Human Rights

Human rights are "basic rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled"[1], or more easy than it, could be: the rights you have simply because you are human.
We can say human rights started in the UK in the year 1215, with the Magna Carta, because the people thought that the most important thing in our lives are ourselves.

Nowadays there are 30 human rights, but I think that the fifty percent or more, we don't respect, and it could be a seriously problem in a future, because this percentage could increase.

I choose the human right number 5, that say: "No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment"", because I think that it's one of the most important for me, and in these ages it isn't respected in all the world; everyday we can see a lot of proofs of it in the newspapers for example, and now, I've just included a link about this:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iraq/5708020/British-Army-faces-20-new-Iraq-torture-claims.html

Nevertheless in this country it is more respected that other sites, but in the past, there are a lot of people that used this method to impose, because in this way they could obtain that he wanted.
For this reason, these days the people continue to use it because they feel superior, and it happens in all the world, in all countries.

Barraques'09!

Like every year, one of the most important town festival is in Girona and it happens around to the end of October or the beginning of November, and it is the famous "Barraques"! It is very amusing because you can meet with a lot of people and you can see all your friends there and then, when you explain to other people the night, you realize that you've had some memorables moments.

This time, the music didn't accompany with us, but it didn't matter, because we had been with a formidable and we made the most of the time, because we know that it happens only once time on the year.
The first day played "Els Pets", a catalan group, that are very famous here, and it was the reason why many people came; another day a lot of people went to Girona because it was the last dat, and all of us wanted to enjoy the maximum!

I can say that I enjoyed a lot this Barraques, and also I laughted very much. It often is good for us, but it isn't for our body :P
